Things are not as simple as they seem to be

Things are not as simple as they seem to be.
Itís convenient to invent another reality,
But the past resurfaces eventually,
Since keys to memories remain daily.
Fingerprints on the scene are obviously
Evidence she did the crime convincingly.
Like a cake, layers of lies raise possibilities,
And suspectsí motives twist ironically,
So much, it makes for a movie mystery.
At the end, she walks away, innocently,
But that is never the end of the story.

Things are not as simple as they seem to be.
Sign with a stamp, and enter automatically
A million dollar sweepstakes or lottery,
But the odds of losing are mathematically
Decided, and, of course, done legally.
The real winners are a strange minority.
Costs of winning transfer to the majority,
And the promotion is done effectively.
Business incomes increase exponentially.
There will be those who want things free,
But that is never the end of the story.

Things are not as simple as they seem to be.
Time and again, humans ignore history,
And try to extend their possibilities.
World resources are used inefficiently,
And many people suffer, consequently.
Aided with more machines and technology
Countries connect by a complex economy.
Governments try to work together politically,
But strengthen their power with the military.
Life would be better if we lived in harmony,
But that is never the end of the story.

Things are not as simple as they seem to be,
When it comes to relationships romantically.
Who we love or hate is found astrologically.
Teenagers deal daily with changes in puberty.
Feelings and emotions are expressed musically.
Years of childhood disappear dramatically
Birth rates are proof of loveís popularity,
And more marriages are mixed racially.
The definition of a what makes a family
Is challenged in county court rooms daily,
But that is never the end of the story.

Things are not as simple as they seem to be.

Stars

The stars are witnesses above
As they look down upon our love.
They see our relationship
Grow more and more each day.
It seems like it was always this way.
There were times in my past,
When love didnít last, and the
Stars werenít bright enough to see.
Maybe they were always there,
But it really didnít matter to me.
I was too busy living my life,
And I couldnít see them until
You said youíd be my wife.

Woman of the World

In many places with many names, the
oceanís waves follow each other naturally,
and the great mistresses she is, she tries
to bury her secrets by hiding the
evidence at the bottom of sea.
Her allies - time, soil and decay-
have a way of destroying the
past except that man has a way
of recording the facts, sometimes
disguised like a pirate, in fiction.
Years after they perished, those men
who defended the right to control the
surface passage are not forgotten, and
they will stay in the minds of the living
as heroes especially by those who are
decorated with their own evidence of
defending these unpredictable waters.
Modern technology in time of peace
tries to find the pieces of the time
of war, and like waves, the
memories come back to
those who can remember.
New lovers fight the lure of
the freedom the ocean brings and,
seduced by the rhythm of the waves,
there is really only one winner,
the woman who helps give
life to this world everyday.

I just want to know where you stand with me

Want no reasons,
No excuses and
I donít want lies,
Or no alibis

I just want to know where you stand with me.
Will you be in the comfort of my arms tonight,
Or do I set your spirit to the wind, wild and free?
If you think Iím talking about together forever,
Then I think you have me figured all wrong.
I love to have you around, but, babe, forever
Is a long, long time.

I just want to know where you stand with me.
I just want to know,
I just want to know,
I just want to know,
I just want to know,
I just want to know where you stand with me.

Are you satisfied, or do you want to be free?
Are you satisfied,
Are you satisfied,
Are you satisfied,
Are you satisfied,
Are you satisfied, or do you want to be free?

Want no reasons,
No excuses and
I donít want lies,
Or no alibis.
I just want to know where you stand with me.
