“Cowboy Pride” was published under the pen name Elias Tobias in "Great Poems of the Western World," by the Famous Poets Society, 2005.

“Candle in the Dark,” and “ As the Candle Burns” was published under the pen name Elias Tobias in Today’s Famous Poems – On the Wings of Pegasus by the Famous Poets Society, February 2003.

“I Saw a Rumor’ was published under the pen name Elias Tobias in Letters from the Soul by the International Library of Poetry in fall of 2002; semifinalist in International Open Poetry Contest; included in three-volume CD set, “The Sound of Poetry.”

“The Citizens’ Band” received an Honorable Mention in Free Poetry Contest by the Famous Poets Society, 2002.

“First-Aid for My Broken Heart” was published under the pen name Elias Tobias in New Millennium Poets by the Famous Poets Society; Honorable Mention in Free Poetry Contest, 2002.

“Naked Banana” was published under the pen name Elias Tobias in Our Millenniums’s Most Famous Poems by the Famous Poets Society, 2002. “Beyond the Bricks” was published in 2001-A Poetic Odyssey by the Famous Poets Society, 2001.

"A Juicy Poem" will be published in Nature's Echoes published by the International Library of Poetry in winter, 2001

“Spring” was published by the National Library of Poetry in “A Celebration of Poets; Showcase Edition, in December of 1998. “living ghosts”, was published under the pen name Elias Tobias published by the National Library of Poetry in Outstanding Poets of 1998, in December of 1998.

“Stairs”, was published under the pen name Elias Tobias published by the National Library of Poetry in A Painted Garden, in May of 1998, and also in Outstanding Poets of 1994 by The National Library of Poetry, April 1994. The poem was a semi-finalist in the 1997 North American Open Poetry Contest.

"One woman is enough for me” under the pen name Elias Tobias published by the National Library of Poetry in The Best Poems of 1998, in the spring of 1998. "The Minutes of Time” under the pen name Elias Tobias published by the National Library of Poetry in Melodies of the Soul, in May of 1998.

“Three Words” published under the pen name of Elias Tobias in the 1997 edition of the Southern Poetry Review, Editors Choice by the Southern Poetry Association/Ocean 21 Publishing Company. “Sir William Wallace” under the pen name Elias Tobias published by the National Library of Poetry in The Best Poems of 1997, in the fall of 1997.

“Hot Stuff’ published in Orbiter, Volume 1, Number 3, the GT newsletter from Brownsville ISD Central office. April-May 1997. ‘The Crusader’s Sacrifice” was published under the name Elias Tobias in The Senior Connection by the Southern Poetry Association, 1996. Received Blue Ribbon Award, July 1996. “Spring” was published under the name Elias Tobias in The Best Poems of the ‘90’s published by The National Library of Poetry in the Fall of 1996, and was a semi-finalist in the 1996 North American Open Poetry Contest.

“Power Lines” was published in Windows of the Soul by The National Library of Poetry in the Winter of 1995/1996, and was a semi-finalist in the1995 North American Open Poetry Contest. “Brainstorm” was published in Best Poems of 1995 by The National Library of Poetry in the Spring, 1995.

“Sensuous Lover” was published in Seasons to Come by The National Library of Poetry in the Spring of 1995, and was a semi-finalist in the1994 North American Open Poetry Contest. “Richocheted Rumors” and “The Smiling Tree” were published in Treasured Poems of America by the Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum, Inc. in December 1993, copyright 1993.

“Lines of Life” was first published in Wind in the Night Sky by the National Library of Poetry, copyright 1993, p. 91.

“The Architect”, “Metamorphosis”, “Checkpoints”, “Diamondpoem”, “The Acorn”, Earth Song”, “Four-Legged Thief’, “On Smelling Roses”, “The Puzzel”, “Rappoem”, Rich Man, Poor Man”, “She Holds the Umbrella”, and “Headcount” were originally published in A Poetry Sampler, 100 % natural words by Olan Dey Gabona, copyright © 1991 by Mike Hall and Checkerboard Press. The collection was reprinted in 50 copies in 1995 under the pen name Elias Tobias, and two poems, “Brainstorm” and “Eagle Eyes” were added.

“Little Dancer” took fifth place in the “Distinguished Poet Awards” and was published in the Winter 1995 edition of Treasured Poems of America by Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum, Inc.

“The Peter Pan Effect” was published in the Fall 1994 edition of Treasured Poems f America by Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum, Inc. “Stairs”, was published in Outstanding Poets of 1994 by The National Library of Poetry, April 1994, copyright © 1994.

“Never had time to say goodbye” was first published in The Hawkeye, the Faulk Intermediate School yearbook, 1993. Brownsville, Texas. It was written in honor of one of the students who attend the school, a student of mine, who died tragically in a car accident one afternoon. The last page of the yearbook was dedicated to John Paul Merino. The poem also appeared in the school newspaper. “Grammer Lesson” was awarded an honorable mention by The World of Poetry in February 1992, and was published in Our World’s Favorite Poems, copyright ©1992. The poem was later published in Visions, the student literary publication of by Pace High School, Brownsville, Texas, 1992.

“Battles of Fire and Ice”, and the Blind Man Knows the Truth”, “The Dancer Just Wanted to Dance”, “A Teacher’s Prayer”, “Sometimes”, “Weighing Relationships”, and “Sorcerer of my Soul” were first published in Visions, the student literary publication of Pace High School, Brownsville, Texas, 1992.

“Your Love” was first published in In a Different Light, by the National Library of Poetry, copyright, 1992, p. 553.

“Matter Over Mind” was given the Golden Poet Award in a poetry contest by The World of Poetry was published in Great Poems of Our Time, copyright 1991. The poems was later included in The Poetry Sampler.

“Tickle Time” was given the Golden Poet Award in 1989 by The World of Poetry and was published in World Treasury of Golden Poems, copyright 1990. A revised version earned aSilveer Poet Award in 1990 and was published in Our World’s Favorite Gold and Silver Poems. copyright © 1991. The revised version was later included in A Poetry Sampler. “Christmas Card Poem” was used as a poem for a Christmas card, Copyright © 1991 by Mike Hall and Checkerboard Press.

“Signals From the Soul”, “Smiles and Tears”, “Spring Prayer”,”All I Can Say”, and “Lonely Lady”, were selected for publication in the American Poetry Anthology, by the American Poetry Association in 1989. The last two poems were later included in A Poetry Sampler.

“Sidewalk Sonnets” was originally included the unpublished collection, Grace & Glory by Hal Michaels, copyright © 1988 by Michael D, Hall/Love Unlimited. Then it was selected for publication in the American Poetry Anthology, by the American Poetry Association, copyright © 1989. It was later included in A Poetry Sampler.

“Shadows”, was originally included the unpublished collection, Grace & Glory by Hal Michaels, copyright © 1988 by Michael D, Hall/Love Unlimited. The poem was later included in RiverBend, Spring 1990, copyright © 1990 by Ball State University.
